Born of boredom and guilt, Legends of Neglect is less of a band than a series of parties with a mission. At the outset, a gaggle of loosely affiliated, non-musicians using whatever various instruments and noise-making apparati on hand, arbitrarily decided to record an entire album consecutively on a single cassette on an ancient 4-track excavated a short time prior from a friends basement in New Jersey. It was not the plan not to plan, but since there was no plan in place, this set the tone for the entirety of the project. As time went on, the revolving cast became increasingly invested, and while the ragged, improvisatory and ramshackle qualities remained, the songs themselves audibly matured. The result – a surprisingly listenable, constantly unpredictable album that takes shape as it plays and rewards with repeated listens.
